Schools will compete against other schools who have selected the same kind of yearbook program to create their book. Since each yearbook program includes a variety of different features and creation methods, these contest categories will provide fair competition for schools.

Yearbook Contest Categories
  • Category 1 – Best Paste-Up Yearbooks
    These yearbooks are typically created using our Memory Maker program and a scrapbooking method.
  • Category 2 – Best Online Yearbooks
    These yearbooks are typically created using our WebEase program to build the yearbook online.
  • Category 3 – Best Template Design Yearbooks
    These yearbooks are designed using any of the following: Lifetouch TimesSaver program, Lifetouch Lifetimes program or the Lifetouch ACE program.
  • Category 4 – Best Cover
    All yearbooks and types of cover design are eligible for this category. Judging criteria for Best Cover is:
    • Originality: The cover design is fresh and unique—it is truly customized to reflect a particular school’s personality and yearbook theme.
    • Creativity: The cover design is attractive and builds reader interest.
    • Identification: The school’s name and year are included somewhere on the cover, even if it is on the spine or back cover.
    • Theme: The cover introduces the yearbook’s theme and is consistent with the contents featured inside the book.
Judging Criteria
  • Theme (30%)
    The theme is clearly introduced on the cover and then carried through on the interior pages with graphic elements, design details, headlines and captions.
  • Creativity (30%)
    The yearbook concept is original or applied in an original manner. Creative details are evident throughout the book.
  • Look (20%)
    The pages are visually appealing and draw in the reader. The design is fun, but does not interfere with the stories told on the pages.
  • Photography (10%)
    A variety of photos were used to truly capture the story of the year. Clear, high-quality photos are featured on the yearbook pages.
  • Writing (10%)
    Headlines, captions and body copy vividly describe the special moments of the year. Writing is free of typos, spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.
Winning Prizes

Each category will include a first, second and third place winner. Each of these category winners will win a cash prize:
  • First Place: $300
  • Second Place: $200
  • Third Place: $100
