  Selling—Distribution Day

Distributing Your YearbooksStudents can’t wait to see what’s inside the yearbook, and can spend hours discussing the memories contained in its pages. To make the memories extra special, develop a plan for how the yearbooks will be distributed. By weaving a special event into the distribution process, you'll create a tradition your students won't forget.

Yearbook Storage and Distribution Tips

  • Store the yearbooks in a dry, clean and secure location.
  • Choose a storage place that is within easy access to the distribution area so you won't have to move the yearbooks twice.
  • Before distributing the yearbooks, inspect your entire shipment to verify the quantity you received matches the copies you've ordered.
  • Organize and plan how the students will receive their yearbooks. Will yearbooks be distributed in classrooms, or alphabetically or by grade at a designated "pick-up" station? Will they be handed out at an autograph signing party, school dance, yearbook dedication ceremony or some other event?
  • Give yourself a pat on the back. You've created history—and the kids are going to enjoy it for many years to come.

Yearbook Distribution Party Ideas

  • Advertise the Event: Make sure that everyone knows about the distribution party well in advance. This will help with your yearbook sale.
  • Entertainment: Wow the students of your school by bringing in entertainment (or ask staff members to participate in a humorous variety show). Games and prizes are another way to entertain the crowd.
  • Food: Area businesses are often willing to donate snacks for your event. You can even sell food as a fundraiser for next year’s book.
  • Recognize Yearbook Staff: The distribution party is a perfect time to recognize those who contributed to your yearbook’s success. And it will get students to think about joining the staff next year.
  • Sell Extra Copies: There are always students who forgot to buy yearbooks. If you receive extra copies in your yearbook shipment, this party is a great opportunity for last-chance sales.
  • Develop a Party Theme: Brainstorm ideas, events, and activities influencing your school to create a special theme for a yearbook party.
